Do you ever feel like there’s a voice inside your head that insists on repeating all of your fears, insecurities, or mistakes?
Does this voice craft invisible scripts that then govern your life in the most limiting way ever?
Are you just sick of this voice having a home inside your head?
You’re not alone.
Today’s guest, bestselling author, Jon Acuff, found himself suffering the same fate. It wasn’t until he silenced this voice and replaced it with a kinder, gentler one that he began to wonder if this was common.
He commissioned a study to find out, and the results were clear: 99.5 percent of 10,000 people said they were overthinkers.
“Okay, great. I’m not alone. But how does that help me?”
Jon just released a book titled Soundtracks in which he explains:
- the 10 signs of overthinking
- the difference between being prepared and overthinking
- a three-step framework that can help you move toward a more compassionate headspace
It’s called the three R’s: retire, replace, repeat.
First, you figure out which soundtracks (thoughts) you need to retire. Then, you replace those soundtracks with ones that will propel you toward the person you want to be. Finally, you repeat these soundtracks, because this transformation doesn’t take place overnight.
In this episode, Jon dives deep into strategies you can use to pinpoint soundtracks that aren’t serving you. He also provides several examples of soundtracks that might appeal to you more than what’s on repeat in your mind.
Enjoy!
