The modern founder of the financial independence movement, Mr. Money Mustache, joins me to talk candidly about things that really matter.
No, I don’t ask him boring boilerplate questions about his personal biography. (Snooze; that’s been done a thousand times.)
No, I don’t ask him standard stock questions like “what’s the difference between financial independence and early retirement?” (Because WOW how cliché and unoriginal.)
Instead, I ask him how much he deadlifts. And who inspires him.
How does he maintain his optimism? What does he regret? What does he teach his son, and what has his son taught him? What makes him laugh, and what’s so beautiful that it moves him to tears?
We talk about his philosophy of living … which is far more meaningful and fun than rehashing the same ‘ol biographical questions about savings and safe withdrawal rates. “I don’t give a sh*t about your story,” I told him in a text while we were setting up this interview. I want to know what you believe.
Oh yeah, and we also talk about Rasputin:
Seriously, you’ll love it. 😉
